Wise

Wise, the global technology company that’s dual-listed on Nasdaq and the London Stock Exchange processed more than $240 billion across borders for around 19 million people last year. It runs procurement and third-party risk as one process in Omnea, scoring risk per agreement rather than per supplier. In ten months, monthly requests have grown 12x, intake time has halved and first-pass approval has risen to 78%. That gave the Wise Finance team the footing for "No Omnea, No Pay": for in-scope invoices, no approved request means no payment.

"Third-party risk management and procurement are closely connected parts of the same end-to-end process. Omnea allows the relevant risk assessment to begin as part of onboarding and apply greater depth where the nature and risk of the request require it. Supporting evidence is captured through the workflow, making it easier for our teams to retrieve and provide when needed."

Challenge

One score per supplier created extensive manual work for audits and reporting

When Wise moved its primary listing to Nasdaq, the volume and variety of third-party engagements increased. The team wanted a more granular view of the products, services and agreements within each supplier relationship, workflows proportionate to the nature and risk of each request, and more consistent process data across procurement, finance, legal and third-party risk, without adding unnecessary friction for requesters. The team's evaluation found that GRC platforms lacked the procurement functionality to support that, while purchase-to-pay platforms did not meet Wise's bar for third-party risk management.

Risk stopped at the supplier. In the previous setup, risk and materiality information was primarily represented at supplier level. When the same supplier provided several products or services with different characteristics, representing those distinctions could require additional records and manual consolidation. Wise wanted to capture the relevant information at the agreement, product or service level while retaining a consolidated supplier view.

Multiple tools and a largely standard process. Procurement, Finance and third-party risk teams worked across multiple tools and hand-offs. The available process could not always vary sufficiently by request type, so standard lower-risk engagements and more material arrangements could follow similar paths. Wise wanted a common intake experience with workflows that could adapt to the nature, materiality and risk of each request.

Limited end-to-end process data. Wise also wanted more consistent process data on cycle times, friction points, outcomes and risk. A shared view of that data would help teams prioritise improvements, measure their impact and make cross-functional planning decisions using the same information.

Solution

Build a process people would choose to use

Agreement-level architecture. Product- and service-level information is captured at the agreement. Risk and materiality can be assessed at that level and rolled up to the supplier view. Omnea also reuses information already captured where appropriate, reducing the need for requesters to repeat data when a supplier is already known.

Workflows shaped around the request. Workflow paths are triggered by the characteristics of each request, allowing standard lower-risk engagements and more material arrangements to receive proportionate treatment. Wise teams can apply the logic relevant to their process, while the direct working relationship with Omnea’s product team supports ongoing refinement as requirements evolve.  AI-assisted intake review helps requesters provide more complete information upfront, reducing avoidable back-and-forth before a request reaches the relevant reviewer.

Agents inside the guardrails. As AI Assist was deployed to intake, completion time roughly halved and request volume climbed nearly 78% in the same window. More requests meant more for approvers to work through, so Wise turned on the Form Review Agent at intake to catch missing or wrong information at submission rather than at approval.

Full Governance. Wise adopted the Intake Form Review Agent, which catches missing or erroneous information in requests, to avoid the back and forth before an approval process can take place. .

A reporting layer Wise owns. The team built internal dashboards on Omnea data against its own KPI model of speed, convenience, cost and risk, and now sets goals across departments against it.

Results

Greater visibility, faster intake and stronger process control

Adoption arrived before the mandate Adoption grew during the phased rollout. Use of AI-assisted intake increased by 10X between Q4 2025 and Q2 2026. Median form-completion time also decreased during the rollout by 51.4%, from 8.85 minutes to 4.3 minutes.

Consistent scoring, no exceptions. For in-scope requests, risk and materiality are captured through a common agreement-level framework, creating a more consistent and auditable record. First-pass approval was 78% in June to July 2026, compared with 69.2% from November 2025 to April 2026.

Which is what made "No Omnea, No Pay" possible. No Omnea, No Pay” connects approved intake with invoice processing. For the agreed in-scope supplier population paid by invoice, Finance requires an approved Omnea request before payment is processed. This helps ensure that the relevant supplier and approval information is captured upfront and gives Procurement and Finance a more consistent view of the process.
