What problems needed solving?
VEED was founded in 2018 to democratise the visual content industry. It’s now the video editing platform of choice for hundreds of thousands of content creators, backed by Sequoia Capital, and has over 160 employees. But VEED had never implemented defined processes for requesting spend, purchasing software or services, or managing suppliers. In 2024, Josh and his team found themselves spending a disproportionate amount of time and energy unpicking their fragmented spend, acting as concierge for requests, and generally trying to bring order—time that should have been spent enabling VEED’s next phase of growth. The lack of structured processes was holding VEED back from scaling effectively. Their key challenges were:
VEED had virtually no centralized visibility into their procurement activity and indirect spend. Contracts were buried in Slack threads or scattered across inboxes. Indirect spend was tracked inconsistently, and only surfaced thanks to manual effort from the finance team. They didn’t have clear ownership of tools which led to duplication, missed renewals, and ultimately wasted spend.
With no formal procurement owner or policy, purchasing decisions were often made in isolated silos. While approvals from senior stakeholders were sometimes secured, nothing was captured or governed in a repeatable way. This lack of structure was creating chaos and made accurate budgeting nearly impossible.
The operations and finance teams were constantly chasing contracts, wrangling suppliers, and hand-holding requests through informal approval paths. This repetitive administrative work became a major time sink, pulling resources away from strategic priorities and creating organizational drag—at a time when VEED needed to move faster, not slower.
How did Omnea help?
VEED needed a solution that enabled them to remain lean and agile, but not compromise on building strong accountability and controls. Before choosing Omnea, Josh and his team explored several other platforms, but found that they were more focused on upselling additional features than on solving VEED’s real challenges. In contrast, Omnea worked consultatively with the VEED team to deeply understand their needs and priorities, and delivered a solution tailored to their needs today and built to support their growth tomorrow.
With both teams in sync we set to work, building workflows that met VEED’s core use cases and integrated with their Slack instance. Just over three weeks later we were up and running—and nearly a year on, VEED has consistent processes that employees are happy to engage with, clear accountability and ownership, and control over their spend. Since implementing Omnea, VEED has seen:
Omnea’s low-friction, Slack-native experience has driven strong adoption, eliminating the need for manual oversight and handholding.
Supplier and renewal data is now centralized, searchable, and fully visible—eliminating duplication, accidental auto-renewals, and fragmented spend.
With Omnea’s no-code builder and consultative support, VEED is able to evolve their workflows independently as they scale.
"When we were evaluating other providers, it often felt like we were being sold to rather than partnered with. What stood out about Omnea was how consultative and collaborative they were. They took the time to understand our actual challenges and helped shape a solution that made sense for us—not just for them.”
What were the business impacts?
“With Omnea, we’ve brought order to chaos without adding headcount. Everything runs more smoothly—from spend requests to renewals—we’re now focused on more strategic projects rather than administration, knowing that Omnea ensures clear accountability and controls.”
